Saturday, December 02, 2006: Santa's Early
It has come to my attention that users using Internet Explorer 6 cannot view the site properly. This is due to IE6 not supporting PNG transparency. Please, if you're still using IE6, do youself a favour and upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer to enjoy better viewing support, along with improved secuity features and better visual enhancements.

I hope you enjoy the new template, because it sure as hell took me a long time to code up into something viewable and worse, cross-browser compliant. This layout, as you will notice, is also variable-width, meaning that it will expand to fit your browser window, regardless of its size. Try resizing your browser window and see for yourself. (Though a minimum resolution of 800x600 is recommended.) It is not without its bugs, of course, of which one is actually quite serious, but the workarounds I have implemented should hold up for now. If you spot anything, feel free to tag it or comment on it through the (finally) enabled comment system.

You can also now subscribe to the blog RSS feed via the link on the right column. For those of you who have no idea what RSS is, have a look at the Wikipedia entry on it. (For those of you who do, ensure that your reader supports the Atom 1.0 format, which is what Blogger uses to publish blog feeds. RSS 2.0 is supported somewhat, I think, but that's only when (and if) this blog moves to Blogger BETA.)

But before you go posting any more posts, you will probably notice that our template is somehow marrred by the actual content of the posts themselves. By the way, the template actually validates as proper HTML and CSS when on its own; when combined with the sheer atrocity of Blogger and your posts, things somehow change.

So, in the future, here's what you can do to make your posts look better, feel better, and fit within the standards for proper HTML.

ADDING IMAGES:
If you want to add an image to your post, here's what to do, step-by-step:
1. Find the image. (Is it on your computer, or perhaps hosted on a website?)
2. Host the image. (Find a service such as ImageShack and host your image there. Hosting images via Blogger yields extremely undesirable results.)
3. Get the proper URL link to the image. (If you're using ImageShack, this should be a full URL with the extension of the image. Something like 'http://img471.imageshack.us/img471/2893/myimage.jpg', without the quotes.)
4. Where you want the image to appear, add this code into your post by clicking on the 'Edit Html' tab and placing the code in its desired location. (Try to structure your posts neatly while you're at it, too.)

<img src="imageURLhere" alt="" title="Type Something Here And It Will Appear When Your Mouse Hovers Over The Image" />

5. That's all there is to it. Remember, except for the 'src' and 'title' attributes, the entire string should be typed in lowercase.

The Christmas hat has to be credited to n-design studios though. I couldn't be bothered.

: A Sign Of Things To Come

The background should be easily customizable to a certain extent, as is planned.
